PAUC Handball

Founded in 1955, Pays d’Aix Université Club Handball have been ever-presents in the Lidl StarLigue since winning the second division title in 2012. Since 2016 they have been coached by France’s all-time leading scorer Jérôme Fernandez, while brothers Luka and Nikola Karabatic were on the club’s books at the same time between February and June 2013.

PAUC Handball finished a very creditable fifth in the Lidl Starligue last season, their highest ever finish, and qualified for the EHF European Cup in the process.

Their biggest rivals are fellow Provence side Saint-Raphaël Var Handball, who boast Xavier Barachet and Adrien Dipanda in their ranks.

Right wing

A Provence handballer through and through, Gabriel Loesch began playing the game at the age of 7, starting out with the Châteauneuf-les-Martigues club in his home region of Bouches-du-Rhône. He joined PAUC Handball in 2013 and signed his first professional contract with them three years later, though it did not come into effect until the 2017/18 season.
