Angers Sporting Club de l'Ouest
Founded in 1919, Angers SCO will this year compete in their 27th total season in the French top-flight, and their fourth consecutive campaign since regaining promotion in 2015. The club has two Ligue 2 titles to its name, achieved in 1969 and 1976, and has twice appeared in the final of the Coupe de France, against Toulouse in 1957, and more recently in 2017, versus a Paris Saint-Germain side featuring Edinson Cavani and Ángel Di María.
Angers’ local rivals are Nantes; the pair are currently the only teams in the Ligue 1 Conforama located in the Pays de la Loire region. Promoted to the second division together in 1945, they vied for regional dominance for the good part of a decade, prior to Les Canaris moving up to the top tier of French football.
Season 2017-18 saw Stéphane Moulin’s charges make an encouraging start and eventually finish in a creditable 14th place.
