FC Lorient in short

Lorient Football Club was founded in 1926. This formation took over from the club "La Marée Sportive", a team of employees of a fish trading company founded a year earlier. In terms of honours, the club won 1 French Cup in 2002 against SC Bastia, as well as 1 Ligue 2 BKT title in 2020. At the end of a successful 2019-20 season, the Merlus finished in first position in the standings ahead of RC Lens, and the best attack in the championship. On 2020-21 Ligue 1, on matchday 1 against RC Strasbourg, the club won 3 - 1.

The Football Club Lorient has been playing into the Ligue 1 Uber Eats during the 1998-99, 2001-02 and from 2006 to 2017 seasons. In the 2009-10 season, the club reached its best position, finishing 7th with a record total of 58 points.

The team is coached by Christophe Pélissier, former coach of Amiens SC between 2015 and 2019 and directed by Loïc Féry.

FC Lorient has seen the emergence of highly talented players such as Laurent Koscielny, Kevin Gameiro and Raphaël Guerreiro.

On January 19th, 2020, as part of French Cup Round of 16, the Red and Blue have deafeated them 1 - 0 with a goal from Pablo Sarabia.

On December 16th, 2020, the FC Lorient was travelling to Parc des Princes as part of championship matchday 15. Christophe Pélissier's men were defeating 2 - 0 with goals from Mbappé and Kean. At the start of the match, the two teams also paid tribute to Gérard Houiller, former coach of Paris Saint-Germain between 1985 and 1988, who passed away a few days earlier.

On January 31th, 2021, the Red and Blue will be travelling to Lorient as part of Ligue 1 Uber Eats matchday 22.

During the 2001-02 season, FC Lorient eliminated Paris Saint-Germain on French Cup Round of 8, before winning their first trophy by beating SC Bastia in the final.

Born on November 5th, 1992, in Pescara, Italy, Marco Verratti is a player who plays in midfield, mainly as a sentinel in front of the defence. Transferred to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012, Leonardo decided of enlisting the man the transalpine press compared to Andrea Pirlo at the time. Little Owl, as he is nicknamed, would then go on to establish himself, season after season, as a key member of the Red and Blue squad. On August 11th, 2012, he made his first-team debut for Carlo Ancelotti in the league opener against FC Lorient. At the end of his first season under his new colours, he was named by his peers as a member of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats's best players of the season, at just 19 years of age.

Yoane Wissa

Striker 02/09/1996

Born on September 3rd, 1996, in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, Yoane Wissa turned professional in Châteauroux in 2015. In his first season, he scored 7 goals in 23 games. After various loans in Angers, Laval and Ajaccio, he joined FC Lorient in the 2017/18 season. During the 2019-20 Ligue 2 BKT season, he was the best scorer of the club with 14 goals, one of the most important players in the club championship title, synonymous with a move up to Ligue 1 Uber Eats. On January 31th, 2021, he scored the second goal of his team against the Red and Blue, before Moffi gave the victory to Lorient on the last minute.

Stade du Moustoir

The Stade du Moustoir, officially Stadium Yves-Allainmat, is a football stadium located in Lorient with a capacity of 14,500 seats. The stadium's attendance record was set on January 8th, 2012, as part of French Cup Round of 64 between SC Locminé and Paris Saint-Germain (18,970 spectators). The stadium is also regularly used for other events, such as the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival.

4 bus lines (1s, 14s, 22s and 52s) ensure the return of fans for all matches (except matches ending before 8pm on weekdays). The stadium, located in the city centre, is also accessible on foot or by bike. Please note that a bicycle parking is available in front of the Lycée Dupuy de Lôme. Be careful if you come by car, parking around the stadium is complicated on match days.
