Amiens SC in short

Founded in 1901 as Amiens Athletic Club, the club were renamed Sporting Club d’Amiens on their merger with Amiens Sport, another club from the city, in 1961. They took on their current name in 1989, when they adopted a logo inspired by the city’s coat of arms, which features two unicorns. The mythical animal is a symbol of Amiens and also gives its French name to the club’s home ground, the Stade de la Licorne.

The decision to appoint Christophe Pélissier as head coach in summer 2015 has proved to be a wise one. In 2016/17, after spending more than 50 years yo-yoing between Ligue 2 BKT and the amateur leagues, Amiens SC was promoted to Ligue 1 Uber Eats for the first time in their history. In their first season in the French top flight, the club finished a creditable 13th position, thanks to their good defense, one of the best in the country. At the end of the 2019-20 season, the club was relegated to Ligue 2 BKT, finishing in 19th position with 4 wins in 28 matches.

On June 19th, 2019, the club announced through a press release the appointment of Luka Elsner as the new coach of the first team. The Slovenian technician was previously on the bench of Union Saint-Gilloise, in Belgium.

SC Amiens' first match in Ligue 1 Uber Eats took place at the Parc des Princes on August 5th, 2017
