Paris vs Nantes

HBC Nantes

Founded in 1953, HBC Nantes have enjoyed a meteoric rise since the early 2000s, returning to the top flight of French handball for season 2008-09. Just 10 years prior to that, the club had been languishing in the fifth division.

To date, they have won 1 French Cup, 1 League Cup and 1 Trophée des Champions, secured against Paris Saint-Germain Handball on September 2nd,  2017, in front of a sold-out crowd at Rouen’s Kindarena.

On 2017-18 season, Nantes surprised many observers by reaching the final of the EHF Champions League, knocking out a Paris Saint-Germain Handball side featuring the Karabatić brothers in the previous round. Sadly for Le H, they could not carry their fine form into the showpiece match, where they lost 32-27 to fellow French team Montpellier.  On July 1st, 2019, the club announced the departure of Thierry Anti, who has been coaching the H since 2009. His successor was Alberto Entrerrios, a former player between 2012 and 2016, who was appointed as HBC Nantes' assistant after his retirement.

In the 2017-18 edition of the EHF Champions League, HBC Nantes reached the final after finishing 3rd in their group
