Founded in 1964 under the leadership of its first president Christian Baugmarth, US Créteil Handball is a club in the Val de Marne chaired by Eric Poignant since 2017. Under the direction of Pierre Montorier, coach since 2018, the team succeeded in going back to the Lidl Starligue for the 2019-20 season, two years after having left it.
After a disappointing 2017-18 season, US Créteil Handball achieved a great 2018-19 season, finishing second in the ranking behind Chartres Métropole Handball, as well as a play-off final. Over the years, the club has built up an interesting list of achievements with a Division 1 champion title in 1989, two French Cups, a League Cup and three Division 2 champion titles.
The club reached the semi-finals of the EHF Cup in 2006, defeated by Frisch Auf Goppingen.
They have played against each other on numerous occasions in the Lidl Starligue, and their last French Cup match was on March 19th, 2015. In the quarter-finals stage, the Red and Blue have defeated them 28 - 25 before winning the trophy against HBC Nantes.
On November 20th, 2019, Val-de-Marne players were welcoming the Parisians on matchday 10. Luc Abalo and his teammates won 28-39 with an impressive match of Mikkel Hansen! During the return match at Coubertin, Nikola Karabatic's teammates had defeated them once again 39 - 26, as part of matchday 16.
For their return to the Lidl Starligue in the 2019-20 season, US Créteil could not avoid defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
Inaugurated on December 17th, 1988, in the presence of the former President of the French National Olympic Sports Committee Nelson Paillou, the Palais des Sports Robert-Oubron is the current venue used by the US Créteil Handball. It has a total capacity of 2,500 seats. The venue is named after Robert Oubron, five times French cyclo-cross champion in the 1940s, who later became National Director of the French Cycling Federation.
Located close to the university district of Créteil, the Palais des sports Robert Oubron is accessible by public transport via metro line 8 at the Créteil - Université stop, as well as at the Gare du Vert de Maisons RER D stop. By car from Paris, take exit 22 on the A86. Numerous parking spaces are available nearby.
