Founded in 1990 following the merger of Racing Club Paillade and Entente Cressoise, the women's section of Montpellier Hérault Sporting Club has been operating in Division 1 Arkema since 1997. Following its return to the elite, the Montpellier Hérault Sporting Club enjoyed its best years in sporting terms, winning the French Championship title in 2004 and 2005.
Nicknamed the Pailladines, the Montpellier players play in the traditional colors of the club: Blue and Orange. The women's section is chaired by Laurent Nicollin, and coached by Jean-Louis Saez, a former player from Montpellier in the 1980s. At the end of the 2019-20 season, Montpellier finished in 4th position in the ranking, ahead of Paris FC.
In their last French Cup victory in 2009, Montpellier's players won the final against Le Mans UC.
In 2010, the Parisian women won their first French Cup after beating Montpellier in the final by a score of 1-0.
During the 2019-20 season, the Parisians have been hosting Montpellier on Division 1 Arkema matchday 7, on December 7th, 2019, at the Jean Bouin stadium. Despite Lawrence opening the scoring just before the break, the two teams drew 1-1.
In the 2015-16 season, the club lost in the final of the French Cup after beating Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
Since 2001, the women's section of the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club has been playing at the Mama Ouattara stadium on the Grammont domain, Montpellier Hérault's training centre. During major Division 1 Arkema and Champions League matches, Montpellier's women can play at the Stade de la Mosson.
Located on the eastern outskirts of Montpellier, the Grammont estate is accessible by car thanks to the numerous parking areas nearby.
