Founded in 1988 as Club Femeni Barcelona, the women's section of FC Barcelona was definitively incorporated into FC Barcelona in 2001, with the creation of the Superliga.
The team plays its home games at the Joan Gamper Sports Complex, the training center of Barca, named after one of the club's founders. Member of the Superliga, the highest national level of soccer in Spain, the Blaugranas have achieved the Cup - Championship double in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

At the end of an exceptional 2020/21 season, she was named Ballon d'Or; ahead of her teammate Jennifer Hermoso.

Located in the heart of the Joan Gamper Sports Complex, the Estadi Johan Cruyff is the official stadium of the women's section of FC Barcelona, as well as the team of Barcelona B, which plays in the third division.
The stadium was inaugurated on August 27, 2019, in the presence of the family of Johan Cruyff, as well as Leo Messi, Sergi Busquets and Gerard Piqué.
Located on the western outskirts of the city, the Estadi Johan Cruyff is accessible by public transport, including the T3 streetcar at the Sant Feliu stop.
